Jokerman is probably best placed to answer this. But feel free to all chip in with advice, witticisms or piss taking.

I have a 9mm stone in my gallbladder, I think my kidney stone was lonely. I also noticed my stool was a little paler a few years ago, but blamed it on Crohns Disease. I have looked at a few sites on the internet and although I am not really close to my gallbladder, I think I'd like to keep it. So... On these sites there was some supplements recommended.

  • HCL
  • Disodium Phosphate
Should I be taking these? If so, where can I buy them? I didn't really want to just buy chemicals online and start ingesting them, but they don't seem to come in a daily tablet. :)
Coonie, Jokerman - Know of any long term effects with using the above?
Is Omega 3 oil a good idea to add? What about Iron tablets? And what about B vitamin tablets?
If so.. Any recommendations?

I'm not at that point yet. I just started systemic pathology and that also respiratory.

From what I do know is that the books say the first solution is removal of the gall bladder. I remember seeing videos in another class of a surgery where they cut open the gall bladder and this guy had spurs just falling out.

I think it has a high correlation with diets high in cholesterol, so how were those numbers? Maybe a change in diet could help save you from surgery, if it isn't too bad. You just don't want an obstruction caused by the stone because that would be bad.

Even suggestions for treat include medications like piperacillin-tazobactam.

Another cause is bacterial infections, which might be secondary to something else, but with IBS or Crohn's, bacteria could be a factor as well.

Last time I had a cholesterol test, a few year back, it was low. 3.7 or something. So I don't think it's my cholesterol. I think it's my illness. They aren't talking about taking my gallbladder yet, as I have no pain. But... It's probable they will. I was reading online about supplements to take that can "flush" the bile and soften the stones. But.... I wanted some Jokerman advice as he is always very knowledgeable about the non-medicine treatments.

Conventional medicine will just take it out.

Yes, prison. I'm a prisoner in Aron's skull.

I have a 9mm stone in my gallbladder
And I have a Glock for that stone.

Gallstones are easier to prevent than treat. Low-fat, no sugar diet. No caffeine. But once they're there, 3 teaspoons of flaxseed oil mixed with warm water may help soften them. There's also something called a gallbladder flush. You might need a juicer if you try it. There are different variations of it, but this looks like a good one: http://www.berglundcenter.com/gallbladderflush.html But be forewarned: There's no reliable evidence it works and it can cause nausea and diarrhea.

Certain foods aggravate the problem. Eggs, onions, and pork. Dairy products and other foods high in fat tend to intensify it. Sugar aggravates it too. HCL (hydrochloric acid) may help if you are deficient in it. About 400 mg a day. Stay away from disodium phosphate. No evidence it helps and can damage your liver and kidneys. Choline, inositol, omega-3 and flaxseed oil are good. A good B-complex supplement will have the inositol and choline. Other useful supplements include SAMe (400mg/day), Vit C (2,000+), and phosphatidylcholine (500mg), which is a refined form of lecithin. Also, the amino acid taurine (500-1000 mg) can help increase bile formation. All can be found in a decent vitamin shop or online.

Besides surgery, there's also sound wave therapy to look into.

Yeah, he knows way too much about. Seems like he's already got a plan set up for you. :)

Thanks, Jokerman.

I am having Lithotripsy on my kidney stone (although they wanted to cut in through my back but I refused). They are not sure it's going to work and if it doesn't I will only allow them to do the Ureterorenoscopy. I am very much against having a kidney drain, which they give you with the Percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

They don't seem to offer this with the Gallbladder though. "You have a problem? Okay we will whip it out. " I don't have any pain yet, although I have felt a stitch like pain a few times. So they aren't overly concerned. But I have seen my stools turn a little paler, although not grey or clay like. Basically, I am resigned to losing my gallbladder at some point and wondered if there was anything I could do to soften the stone, reduce the size and clean up the gallbladder.

I will argue in favour of keeping my gallbladder, but I don't think they'll want to spend the money on ESWL. Maybe if I pay for it, I can try it. I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it.

Keco said the same thing. Just joking, I'm just name dropping hoping she comes back

In her defense, she didn't know she was dating Eric.

I'm still open to starting a SH Whatsapp and bothering each other off SH.
