Ever since I first saw this car in a magazine when I was in 7th grade (1995-1996), I knew I wanted it:

Off the top of my head, this McLaren F1 LM has a 6.0-liter V-12 with 680 hp (compared to 627 hp in the regular McLaren F1). The manufacturer claims were 0-60 in under 3 seconds, 0-100 in under 5, and a top speed of 225 mph. There are only five of these special LM versions in existence (and all of them are orange). I know that one of them is in Massachussetts, and I'd be surprised if there was another one in the U.S.

I think the LM is even quicker on top end than normal F1's. And they are really really fast. Record sits at 384 kph or so.

The engine in the Mclaren is possibly the best one ever. Six litres of V12 brutality shrieking towards a 8500 redline. Huge torque too.

^ The LM isn't faster in terms of top speed. It wasn't geared for that but for faster acceleration.

THat whats im saying, they arent getting built. Theyre concepts.Same goes for the Maybach, although theyre looking into that, though. Demand is definitely there.

Technically it makes sense, but i'm puzzled by the fact that, the car is practically a Le Mans Mclaren with just the bare necessaties to make it road legal. Now the key to doing well at Le Mans is utilizing the big straights, so hence i'm a bit puzzled as to why they'd want the F1 version to be more accel. spec geared rather than top end.

Now the key to doing well at Le Mans is utilizing the big straights, so hence i'm a bit puzzled as to why they'd want the F1 version to be more accel. spec geared rather than top end.

The LM wasn't made to compete in Le Mans, I'll explain why. There were several versions:

McLaren F1 - we know this one, accounts for 60-70 of the 100 F1s produced
McLaren F1 GTR - this was the actual car used in Le Mans, with less hp due to its air restrictors (one of the regulations of Le Mans) but more torque (due to its tuning), made for racing duty, accounts for 20-25 of the 100 F1s produced
McLaren F1 LM - basically a roadgoing GTR without the restrictors (leading to more hp, slightly less torque), re-geared for acceleration over top speed, accounts for 5 of the 100 F1s produced in honor of the five GTRs that all finished and swept in Le Mans, taking 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and either 7th or 9th (I forget)
McLaren F1 GT - basically a roadgoing updated GTR (released in 1997 I think, with longer overhangs for aerodynamic purposes and a bigger wing), accounts for 3 of the 100 F1s produced
