Technology subtitles

i like watching movies in original language, how it was created, without any dubbing. everytime i need to find subtitles for the movie. this time i got problem, downloaded good movies like: carandiru, amores perros, but all the subtitiles (in english language) i find don't fit. i mean, they're right, but the time is not correct. subtitles appear not on the same time when actors speak in the movie. is there a way to change a speed of subtitles with a program? i'm using vobsub program to launch subtitles.
