My House
I was stuck in a lift at Heathrow today. Ive had a phobia of Lifts ever since my mother was stuck in one when i was 5 and I was left outside banging on the doors trying to get them open (I had decided to take the stairs)

Anyway since then I have never gotten in a lift, but today I did and guess what? (if the thread title didnt give it away) it gets stuck.

Anyway this person in the lift next to me was freaking out, constantly pressing the alarm. This Korean women is closing her eyes, she looked petrified. It was getting pretty hot in there, an older couple from New Zealand were trying to get a signal on their phones. Another guy is trying to phone his wife who took the stairs. My family are in the lift also and as per usual are making light of the matter.

Anyway it took the heathrow staff 30 mins to hear the alarm, 30 mins? wtf. It may not seem a long time, it actually isn't but surely it shouldnt take that long to pick up the damn phone.

Anyway (wow i say this word alot eh?), my mother who is going to India to see her family especially her mother who is very sick at the moment saw this as a sign not to go (she ended up going though), also seeing as we were in a minor car crash on the way to the heathrow added to her concerns.

But my original point was, why do lifts hate me? :(

stupid question...Is a lift an elevator? I'm thinking yes but I just have to ask.

I always wondered what ppl would do when they got stuck in an elevator.

I got stuck once but after few minutes of pressing random buttons it worked again, took me to the highest floor and I had a long walk downstairs. I took english class at that time, arrived late and said I got stuck in an Elevator, teacher didn't believe me. I was sad, that's why I can't speak english now :( bad memories

That happens often enough in the building I work in... the elevator gets stuck in between floors so the doors dont open. I guess it could be scary enough if theres no way to communicate with security or whoever. Apart from that, the myths about elevators plunging down 20 floors are all wrong. People watch too many movies and get silly ideas in their heads about that type of stuff. It generally takes 20-30 minutes to get people out of there because you have to call up people from the elevator company or the fire department to get the people out. Pressing random buttons is a trick that occasionally works...it gets the elevator movin again, or if you have the strength you can pry the doors open yourself and determine if its safe to climb out.

I've never been stuck in an elevator but I'm always scared it's going to happen every time i step into one. Yes, I've seen too many movies. "Speed" comes to mind.....

I got stuck once... luckly i was with my gf. we had sex.

It would be cool if it was only the doors that were stuck and you were bangin' her while the lift kept going up and down. that would rock.
