Seriously though what percentage of the population is transgender? Because wanting to ban pronouns like he and she and moving to gender neutral pronouns like ze is crazy incase of the slight chance you actually come across a transgender person and then call them the wrong pronoun. I bet there are more people on the planet allergic to peanuts but there's nobody flying a fucking banner saying we need to ban peanuts for the sake of those poor allergic anaphylactic fucks.
It's hard to tell. Gender Dysphoria is a real, psychiatric issue where you don't like your genitals and feel like you need to escape them. Usually to the opposite sex's genitals. And it isn't so much "not liking them" as much as it's your genitals causing you distress where it negatively affects your mood and psyche and can't function properly because they don't feel "right" to you.
I think it's similar to body dysmoprhia disorder, but really focused on your gender.
I think a lot of the trans people in recent years picked up on it because of another mental illness, like autism, that has them easily manipulated by others in to thinking they're in the wrong body and wrong gender. So while gender dysphoria is real, I think there's a larger portion of trans people that are in the movement because of mental issues. Or they're acting out.
Growing up, it was emo and goth kids that dressed oddly, wore chains on their clothing, black nail polish, long black dyed hair, etc. That was them rebelling. Now, I think the trend is straight up cutting your tits or dick off and living an eccentric life fueled by exogenous hormones.
I still haven't seen any studies that prove that trans people have different brains that don't match their phenotypic sex. It may come some day or I simply just haven't seen it yet. But I think it would be more available if it existed. But I do believe gender dysphoria exists, just not enough people to have it that shuts down a movie or its casting. Or what recently happened in the London Pride parade where lesbians tried to derail the trans portion of the parade with their antics.
It's going to be weird when the trans trend dies down in a few years and people that converted will live some fucked up lives because of hormones and surgery and grow to regret it. Psychologists are going to be minting money when they come in for therapy sessions.
