Roma have dismissed speculation that they are interested in veteran midfielder Roy Keane.
The Irishman's shock departure from Manchester United last week has sparked an intense scramble for his services on a free transfer.
A plethora of Premiership clubs have declared an interest in the 34-year-old, although Birmingham City have ruled out a bid for Keane.
Celtic are concerned that Keane's wages could prove prohibitive to an offer, while there are also rumours that Italian duo Roma and Juventus are chasing the former United captain.
Roma had been tipped to make a move for Keane in order to placate their supporters with a big-name signing as Antonio Cassano could be sold in the New Year.
But the Giallorossi have dismissed the notion that they have registered their willingness to take Keane to Serie A.
"We have never been in contact with Roy Keane or his agent because he is a player that doesn't interest us, not now or in the future," said Roma's sporting director Daniele Prade.
Widespread reports have also suggested that Juventus are ready to make a second attempt to bring Keane to Turin.
Juventus were suitors of the midfield general a few years ago, along with Bayern Munich, before Keane signed a new contract at Old Trafford.
The Italian champions suggested that Keane would not improve their starting line-up, but refused to completely discount the possibility of signing the outspoken ace.
The Old Lady's general manager Luciano Moggi commented: "The Juventus team is already strong as it is."

Closer to home, Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce has not ruled out trying to set up a deal with the player.
"I think this club would like to be associated with good players and Roy Keane falls into that category," said Pearce, who spent three years with Keane at Nottingham Forest in the early 1990s.
"Every club in the world at the moment has their name attached to Roy Keane. I think the fact we are in a city where he lives and works means we might be attached as well."
Portsmouth were one of the first Premiership clubs to declare an interest in Keane, while Wigan, Everton, West Brom and Aston Villa have all been linked to the player.
Meanwhile, Birmingham manager Steve Bruce, who played alongside Keane at United in the early 1990s, ruled out making any attempt to bring the Irishman to St Andrews.
Bruce said: "I think he has still got something left as a player. I know him well. I wouldn't be surprised if something is already sorted. Will we be trying to sign him? No, I think we can rule that one out, that's for sure."
A move to Celtic also seems to be on hold.
Chief executive Brian Quinn has said Keane would need to take a severe cut in wages if he was to go to Parkhead.
"There are two separate issues," Quinn said.
"One is a footballing issue, whether Roy would fit into Gordon's plans and the formation - because the team is playing very well just now and is very settled.
"But that is Gordon's judgement and we have to take that into account. The other is the business side, and we would have to wait and see what is proposed.
"We have heard nothing from Roy Keane, nothing from his representatives and until you see what the proposal is, it is premature to offer a view on that."

Keane is assessing his options after having the remaining months of his Manchester United contract cancelled last week.
The former Red Devils captain is not short on suitors, with over half the clubs in The Premiership ready to sign the 34-year-old in the New Year.
There is also interest in Keane from Scottish giants Celtic, while the ex-Nottingham Forest ace could have offers from abroad.
Hammers boss Pardew admits he is a fan of Keane and would welcome the opportunity to coach the midfielder at Upton Park.
"I would not put it out of the question because we want to acquire great players," Pardew told Sky Sports News.
"You know, we're trying to let people know that this is a good club, it's run well.
"We've got Teddy [Sheringham] who we look after in a different way to the young players.
"We like to think we enhance young players' careers, so it's a good place to come to and we want good players."
