LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A 46-year-old Little Rock man was sentenced to nearly 40 years in prison after confessing to two bank robberies and a string of other holdups in the capital city last winter.

Robert Tupac Shakur, who is homeless, pleaded guilty to 12 counts of aggravated robbery. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped 12 related theft charges and four firearms counts. Police say Shakur had legally changed his name from Robert Green.

He was accused in robberies of several convenience stores, a hotel, two drugstores, two banks and a Toys R Us.

Yeah, man. Capitalist society at it's best. Messing with money earns you a bigger punishment than messing with people.

not to shoot down your high horse riding, but bank robberies = plural.

that's 12 counts of aggravated robbery for just one bank robbery he plead guilty to, but he committed many other crimes. The 40 years are part of a plea deal because he did hella other shit.

Maybe I should've emphasized my comment wasn't specifically tied to this example.

If you "fraud the livin daylights" out of an insurance company for millions and millions you get like 6 gazillion years.

As opposed to sometimes 10 or 15 for a filthy rapist.
