Remix?

Sup ppl. I was wondering what happened to the remix? How is it now that all you need is another artist that wasn't in the original release to constitute a remix? I used to get excited when I heard that a producer gave their talent to a song they respected, & 'remixed' it. Now all you need is a popular artist to drop some dollar store 'rhyme' over the old beat to call it a remix.
