Recreating "Smack My Bitch Up"

that's awesome, prodigy rock!

Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up song is credited to, Written by: L Howlett, M Smith, N Miller, K Thornton, T Randolph, with additional lyrics by Shahin Bada.

There's no mention of samples used in the cover booklet for the song.

edit: on closer look it does say 'Track 1 contains portions of 'Give The Drummer Some' by Ultramagnetic MC's from their album entitled 'Critical Breakdown'. but that the only mention of any samples used in this track.

They didn't credit the samples because they didn't clear them legally, but they've clearly used them.

and Shahin Badar is a friend of mine, we've performed at many of the same shows. She is cool.

cool.

like how the DJ broke the track down into half a dozen samples or more and put them together perfectly like it is a jigsaw puzzle.

using samples without proper legal authorisation is plagiarism/copyright infringement. bet that liam howlett isn't too happy about jim pavloff exposing his methods.

credit due to this version though, some say that it is better than the original.

jim pavloff > liam howlett, on this one

Serious credit to the guy for even figuring out what the uncredited samples were, they're not very obvious.

Nice find. It looks pretty interesting. If real thing was created this way then I gotta say that is talent in it's own right.

It absolutely fucking is. I HATE it when music snobs try and claim that sampling is not an artform.

Like anything else, it's something that can be uncreative and lazy, but can also be fucking amazingly well done, like this.

Sampling is an art anyone who says other wise needs to kill themselves. There are some people who just redo the song, aka most people outside of the hip-hop world who do covers of songs, but in rap its way different. Premo & Dilla are some of the best at chopping shit up. They take a sample and make it their own. blah blah blah i can go on forever about this

Props to this kid cus diggin samples is an artform in itself as well. I spend countless hours doing that shit myself so much respect to him
