Post your favourite thing you like to do involving the title. Post your secrete fetish for food, what do you like to cook? Whatdo you pig out on etc.

Me personally like to eat quite healthy and I avoid cookies etc.

Here is one of my favourite foods to make. Burgers. There are simple to make, they are much more healthier than Maconalds and Burger king. You know there will be no spit in your burger and it just tastes so much better as well.

What you need:

Pack of Mince (standard size pack will make about 6 burgers)
1 onion
1 round of bread
1 egg
Then if you want salt, pepper, herbs. What ever you like.

a big bowl
chopping board
shredder
wooden spoon (kinky lol)
Some kind of burger shaped container

Ok so first chop up the onion in to the smallest peices you can, put into bowl, add in the mince and mix that up together. Then if you can put the round of bread in a shredder to create bread crumbs (but this is optional, it just bulks up the burgers). Add to the mixture, then crack the egg into the bowl as well, this will make all the mixture stick together. Add you spices etc mixed herbs are nice, pepper works well. You will need to have something which you can put the mixture into to created the shape of the burgers. Then once you get the shape let it fall out on to a tray, repeat with the rest of the mixture. They can be grilled or cooked in the oven. I prefere grilling them. Serve with chips and cobs with melted cheese, girkins or what ever you fancy.

Its a quick meal to prepare, it will take about ten mins to make and 20 mins to cook. This seriously is tasty, I hope people here try this out. Way better than macdonalds!!

So there is my wonder meal. Dont say I dont give you people good ideas.

I'll start off with an easy Japanese recipe.

Okonomiyaki - Okonomi is "preferred" or "to your liking" and Yaki is "cook", "grill" or "fry".

It's like pancake with buncha goodies in it but don't get the wrong idea, this isn't syrup and butter. The taste is more sophisticated.

Ingredients:

-flour (I prefer the okonomiyaki powder but it's not easy to find in the Western side of the world so flour will do)
-water
-eggs
-cabbage (lettuce can be used if you don't like cabbage but I don't recommend it)
-katsuobushi (dried, shaved bonito)
-aonori (dried seaweed)
-mayonnaise (I highly recommend using Kewpie mayo imported from Japan, it has a much better taste)
-okonomiyaki sauce (note that the sauce is the key ingredient of this dish, a must have)

katsuobushi, aonori, Kewpie mayo and okonomiyaki sauce can be found at your local Asian/Japanese grocery store.

Other than that, you can add whatever you like, hence "okonomi".
Beef, pork, chicken, octopus, squid, prawn, etc.
You can add things like green onions, mushrooms and beni-shouga (pickled ginger) for extra flavor. The meat you use should be thinly sliced.

Prep:

- Remove the core of the cabbage and slice it into thin strings.

- Mix flour, water, eggs and cabbage strings.

- You can also add green onions, shrooms and beni-shouga at this time, if you wish to.

- Make sure the dough is not too watery and not too thick.

- Fry the dough like a pancake in a flying pan.

- Add meat on top of the dough before you turn it over, and make sure the dough is still soft when you do this. Don't over cook! I like to add a tiny bit of dough on top of the meat to make sure that it doesn't burn. You can go all out and do like a 4 topping pizza type thing by adding a different topping for each 1/4 of the okonomiyaki.

- Turn it over and wait until it's done cooking. Poke the okonomiyaki with a toothpick to make sure that it's cooked all the way.

- Serve with katsuobushi, aonori, mayo and okonomiyaki sauce. I like to to mix the sauce and the mayo on top of the okonomiyaki, then add katsuo and aonori.

You could also try the Hiroshima style which is adding Yakisoba (fried egg noodles)

Very easy and very good. You can keep the leftovers in the fridge for days, just microwave it. Remember, it's all about the sauce.

:)

Needs:
- stove
- pan
- spatula
- butter knife
- margarine
- 2 slices of America cheese
- 2 slice of white bread

- Preheat stove top on Med to Med-Hi
- Place pan on stove
- Using the butter knife, spread margarine across one side of reach slice of bread.
- Place the cheese in between the slices of brea with the margarine facing outwards.
- Put sandwich on pan
- Using spatula, tend to sandwich until cheese is melted and both sides are browned to liking.

Hiyashi Chuka - Cold Ramen Noodles

A perfect dish for those hot summer days. This dish is all about the sauce and the quality of the noodles.

I recommend using soft egg noodles. The dried noodles are not as good. You should shop around (go to an Asian food market) and find the noodles you like. Just make sure they're ramen/egg/chuka noodles.

- boil the noodles until cooked
- cool the noodles by rinsing it with cold water
- add a tiny bit of cooking oil to the noodles so they don't stick (mix it in well with your hands). adding oil is always a good idea because I like to keep the noodles in the fridge to make it colder. you can place some ice cubes in the dish, under the noodles when you serve it, to ensure that it stays cold. Hiyashi Chuka taste the best when it's cold!

The sauce is very simple.

- 3/4 cup water (chicken stock is recommended!)
- 8 tbsps soysauce
- 4 tbsps rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsps grated sesame seeds
- 4 tbsps sugar
(serves 1 person)

The toppings of my choice are:

- strips of ham, boiled chicken breasts or beef
- strips of thin omelette
- boild bean sprouts
- sliced tomatoes
- julienned cucumbers
- beni-shouga (pickled ginger) or sesame seeds for garnish

get a plate with ice cubes, add noodles, add toppings and pour sauce. simple and delicious.

^ I couldn't find a better picture so this will have to do. Hiyashi Chuka should have more contrast with the deep red of the tomatoes, different shades of cucumber green and a bright yellow of the eggs. Looks like spinach was used for the garnish in this picture.
