Rapper Talib Kweli revealed he had some doubts when 50 Cent insisted he would be retiring.

"No, I don't think 50 Cent would retire," Talib said at the MTVu Woodie Awards.

"I think 50 Cent says a lot of things which actually encourage competition in the industry. I think competition is great. Collaboration and conflict are great too. Anything that begins with C is great."

And the New York music artist is cool with digital downloading.

"Go ahead and download my music. Just come to the shows and then buy the album," he said.

Talib, who was nominated for Alumni Woodie - for artists who haven't forgotten their roots - admitted he was pretty chuffed about being nominated, even though he lost out to Spoon.

He said: "I feel pretty good about being nominated for an Alumni Award."
