Question

that means either it was stolen and stripped. or crashed and they repaired it. it does lower the value of the car a bit. check out the frame of the car and ask why its considered rebuilt. hopefully it was just stolen but that might not be the case.

^ I would just assume that the engine was rebuilt though... usually if it were in an accident, it would have a salvaged title, though I'm not sure what the label would be if the car had been stolen and recovered at some point.

Thanks for the infos. The car is certified and etested but still I don't really know if I should buy it. It's a Honda Civic SiR 2000, the guy is selling it 8100$. But if I get it I am thinking of maybe try to low it up to 7200-7600$.

If the car was crashed or even if he swapped the engine then it would propably be more problems, maybe? I don't even know if the car still has its B16.

But anyways I am going to see the guy on Monday and hopefully test drive the car, take a look at the engine and make sure the Vtech still sounds good.

P.S. Anyone got any tips for me, like what I should check on that car since the has a ''Rebuilt Title''... the engine for sure but anything else?

Thanks.

ask why it has a rebuilt title. if its theft, check it out the engine. it should be the dohc with vtec on the valve cover. if you want to be safe you can also read the block too if you want. on the lower left side should be a stamp that says b16a2 (anything with b16a), if it says b18c or b20b/z than even better imo. vtec is working as long as you hear it come on at around 5500rpms and itll pull to 8200. the engine is probably original. but if it was theft, id worry about the interior and exterior not being original.

if it was an accident, have the car put on a lift and checked by a mechanic. also look in the engine bay for any frame damage. some people bend the frames and on a honda thats bad since its unibody. and its a pain to fix.

Along the lines of what C.R.Y. said, just go online and look up stuff on that model Civic and know what the factory stuff is and what it looks like, so stuff doesn't match up, then be weary. Personally, if you have to do that much digging on a car that has a rebuilt title, then you might as well get something else.

its a lot of trouble. if youre going to go through that much see if you can get an integra type r with a rebuilt instead :thumb:.

^ Definitely. I was thinking that if I come up on some extra money within the next year or so, I'd buy a used Civic hatchback ('96-'00) as my daily driver, but I'd fix it up to my liking... so it would have a B18C1 (Integra GS-R) motor or better, though a B18C5 (Integra Type-R) would make it an even sweeter daily driver, though it would probably be more expensive. But it would probably get 30 mpg still. One of my friends from back home has a '00 Civic EX coupe with an Edelbrock CARB-legal turbo kit on it, it seems like it has a good amount of pep while still getting almost identical gas mileage when driven conservatively, so maybe a cheaper B18B (Integra LS) with a bolt-on turbo kit would be cool overall.

yeah both sound like a good idea and the ek hatch is a great chassis to start with. the b18c5 is a great motor. but if you could i say go for a k20 with a 6spd ftw. its a bit more money, like 3k more but worth it. i rode in a ex coupe with a k24 block and k20 type s head. it was making around 240 to the wheels. the thing hauled ass and my father was barely setting vtec off since he was shifting at 5500rpms. redline is 7.5 to 8k and vtec was popping anywhere from 4800rpms to 5200rpms. it has plenty of torque. a setup like that gives it like 170lbft of torque. and you have 6 gears to go through :)

yeah. it also comes in the accord. but the good one (200hp) is from the tsx. the k20 still makes good torque if you want a k-series they still make like 150lbft.
