Technology Question bout PC gaming

I've had my pc for a month and was thinkin bout buying some games like Doom 3, the Sims, etc.. but i was wondering, do i need a video card and all that type of stuff or can i just go buy the game and install it?? I have a HP, 200gb, 1gb of mem, 3700+ amd athlon 64 processor.. some1 help!!

well you already have a video card if your monitor is functioning. Doom 3 is a very demanding program so 95 percent of onboard videocards wont cut it. Your computer is deffianetely efficient enough for the Sims and your specs that you listed are very good, but now more then ever videocards are the most important hardware while running games. So find out what videocard you got then I can help you out homie.

New videocard. Right now, no doom for you if you don't ahve it. I suggest ATI vid card. Nvidia can suck my dick

If you have a PC with those specs, chances are it will sport a good VC already.
