I was watching an episode of fifth gear and they had a segment on aftermarket license plates. They went into different lettering and how you can go to a government run auction and get a better deal than buying it off the papers. What I wanted to know is, what is the big deal with the plates over there? Are you not able to purchase personalized plates? Is having a plate that says something really in demand?

i dunno where over there is, but there is a lot of restriction with custom license plates. you have to buy em at the dmv and there is a year charge of like 80 bucks or sumthin. and in some states it has to start with a number, not a letter and vice versa. You have to apply for custom plates, if they approve it then you can have it. So u can put profanity n etc, and of if its a word that isnt understandable to people, or say in ur language, there is a place in the application where you have to explain what it means and what country the word is originally from..

dunno if it helps man..but holla.

I have a personalised plate. It was a 21st Birthday present.

In the UK plates are dull and boring. It's nice to have a custom plate. The minimum price is £250 and the most anyone has paid last time I checked was £250,000.

It's just like having anything custom. It's a fashion.

thanks... yeah wasn't really sure what the story was exactly since they reported it as if we all lived in england and already knew about the situation.
