Do they play only avi format files or a wide range e.g rm , mpg

Mine plays AVI's.

Doesn't play Real Media.

I use MP4Cam2AVI. Very quick and easy.

^^ Maybe a little.

Depends what you put in. I put some TV rips through it. So the quality wasn't A1 anyway.
