Another blow to Sony fans

here is a nice summary
The idea is this:
1) You buy a game. Sony makes money.
2) You sell a game to GameStop right now, and they give you some money, spendable at GameStop, or if you choose, cash. You make money.
3) GameStop sells that game to somebody else. GameStop makes money.
Sony essentially is replacing step 2 and 3 here with one nice little condensed step.
2b) You sell a game to a friend. Your friend does not pay you in cash. He puts the game in his system, and the system checks for authorization. If you have authorized the sale, your friend pays a used game price (to Sony) of which you recieve a percentage in entitlement points (spendable only to Sony). Sony makes money x 2.
so when you buy a new game and play it, it gets registrated to you.
You sell it to new owner(he gives you cash, or nothing, that's your deal) but he has to pay a small fee to Sony to be able to play the game(that fee gets distributed three ways, a bit to you, a bit to game publisher/developer and a bit to Sony).
And so forth the chain goes.
If this is true then sony just killed there own product. If Game stores arnt going to make money offa used games for the ps3 then there gonna push people towards buying 360s so they can make money. Very dumb approach from a business standpoint.
No it's not true. Some people went searching sony's patents and found one that was for a special security feature that restricts the renting of a certain product. It said nothing about PS3 games. Of course these idiots went around spreading the rumor that the patent was for PS3 games, but the patent is not for games but rather for music and video downloads so you can't share them._carmi said:i got that from another board. i would have copied the real article but i cant cause i must register and they dont wanna let me register with my hotmail or gmail email. dumb. anyways thats what it is.
dunno if its true either.
Sony PS3 to Launch with 30 Titles, and Counting
Posted Sep 14, 2006, 12:39 PM ET
Sony's Playstation 3, (PS3) is currently set to launch with 30 titles and the list may yet growsome before launch time.
Sony PS3 is set to launch with more titles than the original Playstation saw at its launch in the mid 1990s. At the current count, the Playstation 3 will see at least thirty titles launching with it. Though it may yet change with more being added to the list and some taken away, this should be a launch that will keep any PS3 fan happy. Almost every video game genre will be represented and some of the most popular Japanese titles are set to support the PS3.
Though some may speculate that the Sony PS3 price will be a great downfall for the entertainment system, Sony continues to maintain that the system will be worth every penny. Maintaining that the Blu-ray disc player and the "Cell" processor make the Sony PS3 less like a gaming console and more like a computer, Sony believes that the Playstation 3 will rival the home PC for more than just video games. Sony intends to make the PS3 the central hub of everyone's home entertainment system and touts the high-definition capability of the system as superior to anything else on the market.
