It's official. A survey has confirmed what every Fratton Park faithful knows, by putting Pompey top of the table with regard to singing the longest and loudest.
Fanchants.com carried out the survey on noise levels at the first five home Premier League matches for each club this season and found that the vocal Pompey fans spend an average of 58 minutes singing per match at a deafening 97 decibels, louder than a pneumatic drill!
Not even Newcastle and Liverpool, normally renowned as hot beds of soccer support can match the Fratton Park noise and up at Old Trafford Manchester United on average sing three minutes less than the Pompey faithful.
The quietest fans in the Premier League were found to be Charlton at 65 decibels and Chelsea fans set the record for the most abusive chants.
