got the following image from a book i have read

the book is about Buddhism, but is more about underlying how the mind perceives things in different ways

for example take a look at the picture below. Believe it or not, this is a near-photographic rendering of something very familiar (either in person or in pictures) countless times

if you do not recognize it immediately what it is, then notice your state of mind. notiice that it is, to some extent, confused

some people, when they first see this picture, say, "i think it might be a man lying down." but they say it with uncertainty. they're not quite sure. they believe it might be a man reclining. (that's what i thought when i first saw the picture.) but there's no sense of seeing, no conviction that you know what the picture depicts.

keep looking at the picture. i assure you that when you actually see what it is, all your uncertainty will immediately vanish. you will know what the picture is. all beliefs and uneasiness about it will instantly vanish

if you haven't yet seen what the picture is, keep looking at it for a while. eventually you will get it. and when you do get it, notice the sudden shift that takes place in your mind when you do

what is it, did you notice how your mind relaxed when, suddenly, you saw, and you knew you saw?

I am confused. Then I must be in a diff state of mind or something. Anyhow...

No I don't get it then... Are we looking at the image or the writing? ???

you are a psychologist carmi, you should have this on lock-down, optical illusions are like mind games, like psychology can be

the writing is in accompany to the imagery, but don't focus on either, what matters is what you see

I'm not seeing it, but my mind is as relaxed as is humanly possible under the current circumstances. No visual revelations are going to change that.
