Well, in my country we pay a lot for that and everybody is forced to do so. After taking taxes, insurance and every mandatory thing you basically get ~-35-40% off your salary.
They will diagnose you for free and prescribe drugs that are fucking expensive since there's no reduction on that and if you're seriously ill like cancer you have to wait in "the line" to the hospital literally for months or even years. They'll care only if something happens to you and you need an operation immediately which means it's usually too late. You can pay a lot to make it all faster or go to a private clinic. Sure if you break your arm or something they will help you but it's not an expensive service anyway. Oh and if you're older than say 80 years old nobody will care for you anyway. You have to pay for everything since you won't get any free examinations even though you pay that mandatory insurance for all your life.
Poor people are fucked anyway with the only difference that their salary is even lower thanks to that 'insurance'.
In short we pay high insurance but it doesn't feel like we're insured. The whole country pays shitloads of money while hospitals are going bust. That system is really fucked up and I'll always be against any mandatory shit like this.
I'd rather get a few hundred dollars more every month and if I break my arm I'll pay for a high quality 'service' from my own savings. If I'll have any serious illness considering that I want to survive I'll have to pay for curing me no matter if I'm insured or not.
I don't believe that this pseudo-socialist service would work anyway near how Obama describes it right now, even considering that everything in America works a bit better than here.

Well, our health care and government are really shitty and no matter how much I want to stand in their defense there's nothing good to say.
We also suffer from having pseudo-communism in the past. Most directors, politics and higher managers in public companies are there because of their connections from the past. Not to say much they are usually incompetent while having tremendous salaries from our insurance/tax money. That's obvious, everybody knows that but nobody can do anything about it.

Here in charge are people who sympathize with communism and those who were against it and were fighting it (Solidarnosc). Unfortunately the second group broke up into many smaller ones that are fighting against each other right now and most company directors change when a group in charge gets replaced by a different one. It's still a huge mess.

yeah I mean I was aware that there probably is one but not much people care about basketball here and I'm not aware if it's good or bad or who plays there. It's just not popular, they don't show it on tv, nobody cares about it etc.
The volleyball, and ski jumping are way more popular lol.

norway used to, and still sorta own that and a lot of other winter sports. we tried to set up a national basket league, it's stumbling along but not really getting anywhere. the reason people care about the nfl and the nba, the way i observe it it's about the passion and the emotion at the events. it's not the actual sport, the actual match, it's all the surrounding emotions, all the people, the lights, the money. it's something that was born naturally. you can't replicate that shit. that's why i think it's retarded that every other country in the world tries to play a sport they really have no relationship to. Norway Basketball Team lawl. such a joke.
