every time i start my computer, when windows loads, it begins to run an installer program for a specific piece of software and i have no idea why.

The task manager shows the process as being called msiexec.exe but I've tried looking in the startup folder and it's not there. yet every time i boot, without fail, it pops up.

any ideas anyone?

I am not sure, have you installed anything recently?

If you type it in google you just get a lot of series of these statements:

If you are not installing anything, It can be a virus.

if msiexec.exe is deleted, you can not add new software to computer.

I hate when something happens out of ordinary b/c so many people say screwed up things. I really don't know, I'm bumping this thread.

not sure what could be the cause, but goto the control panel, goto admin > services > start up and you should see it located on the list and you can disable it from running on start up.

msiexec.exe is a windows installer process and is not a "software" itself. It's known to cause various bugs but in this case it seems like some program you installed recently tries hard to install/uninstall/complete instalation after reboot. Try to find out what kind of software it might be.

Tried every fix I could find online, nothing worked. Even manually removed every single registry key relating to the software and still nada.

I basically had to completely disable Windows Installer to stop this from happening, now if I need to use Windows Installer in the future I will have to re-enable it first. Kinda annoying but it worked.
