If you are indeed the one who complain about Hollywood for being unoriginal, then what are you doing by spending money on a sequel....

is what I was trying to say. I figured it was close to a right time for a Hollywood film supporter like myself to strike back.

I might complain about hollywood being UNoriginal when they do remakes--latest one or example = I saw was posiedon(sp?).

But sequels are a different story--or continuation of a larger story or add ons n etc. So you know, I dont necessarily think they are unoriginal when they do sequels.

I personally think The Fountain will be a great new theatrical expirence but it will most likely be ignored because people are focused on movies with 3's in the title. That's why Spiderman 3 will make 300 million dollars and people will start to yap again about the unoriginality of Hollywood.

I think the problem lays in the decision making process. I think people who complain about films are picking the wrong ones to watch or maybe they're letting their girlfriend's pick.

Im perfectly fine with it, it's not a problem if Hollywood isn't original.

I like films that look good and have the potential to be great, unlike Rush Hour 3, Chris Tucker hasn't been funny since Friday and I'm sure it'll have the same lame jokes from the first 2, but just a different setting. I'm a comic fan, I like the superhero mythology. So of course I'm going to see Spider-Man 3, that has the potenital to be fantastic, and could blow my mind. Some sequels are just a continuation of a previous story/revizitaion of previous characters, most are not even doing that, but cashing in on a big hit or name. There is no orginality anymore, especially in films, but it doesn't mean you still can't enjoy what's being presented.
