I had 2 bikes.
I started on e 250 kawasaki ninja which was good, but wasn't powerful enough for me,
i had an accident with that so i fixed it up and sold it and bought a new one. I ended up buying a Suzuki GSXR600, and this is one of the BEST bikes i've ridden apart from the Duke's and the Aprillias. R1, though 1000, aren't efficient and are terrible around corners. Honda CBR's are just too small for me.

I recommend an Suzuki GSXR 250 (if your first starting up, don't go anything too powerful, work your way up) and then later on you can get a Suzuki GSXR 600.

After my last accident i havne't been able to ride again (as in, i haven't bothered buying another bike). I will be soon, i'm thinking GSXR 750.

Like The_One says, start with a smaller bike.
He's obviously a Suzuki fan, and they are nice bikes. I've just started riding, although I have yet to pass my test. My first bike is a Kawasaki ZXR400. As soon as I'm comfortable I'm going to progress to a 600. I want an R6 (Yamaha), as that is the bike I prefer the look off. But there's loads of sports 600's that are very nice.
But first, get a cheap smaller bike, as you may drop it, and you don't want too much power.

And GSXR 750, very nice bike. Someone I work with has 1. White and Blue. :thumb:
 
^see, the reason i didn't like Yamaha's was the steering (though i haven't ridden the r6, i'm talking abut the r1). One of the best 1000's i've ridden is probably the new honda cbr 1000's. It's light as a mutherfucker, amd it flys like the wind. Scary shit, but fun. I've riddent a hayabusa (the gsxr 1300), and their just ridiculous. Nobody needs that much power
 
Can anybody tell me what it feels like to ride a bike at highway speeds? If you're goin about 60-70mph, is the road blurry to you and is the wind killing you too much? I mean, bikes are fun, but I couldn't see myself in a five-lane free-way, going about 70mph, with cars all around me. Scary shit.

I get shit scared at 50mph.
That shit is windy as fuck.


However, people I work with do up to 180mph on their bikes. When I bought my bike, my colleague rode it home. He took it to the redline in 6th. 140 mph. I know because I was following him in my car.
 
right now i have a restoration project. its a 1985 kawasaki ninja zx6. its a little big to start on though, thats the problem. its my fathers but ill be driving it once its restored. it just needs the normal tune up and needs to be fixed cosmetically.

And SOFTSTIK, riding a bike is the best fun you'll ever have in your life. When you take off in first gassing your bike hard and you can feel the front wheel just lift... when your overtaking a car around a corner on a 2 way street and you feel a car is coming and you accelearte just in time to squeeze between the cars. 2 go down freeways clocking up 260kmph. It's the best fun you'll have. Going down the road about 60kmph accelerating whilst pulling the clutch and then letting go and the bike going verticle into the air. I'll show you some of the videos of me and my mates from our old motorcycle trips we used to take, i'll try and find them.
All the one's which had me in them have been brought down but i'm still looking. Just the rush is amazing. The best adrenelin rush i've gotten (though it was the most stupid thing i've ever done) was popping a mono through 2 cars as we were all going. i barely fit in there and it was just awesome. Oh and i once was in a near accident which i literally flied for about 3-4 meters with my bike because i was overtaking some car, and the lane ended and the car didn't give me way so i was forced on the footpath, my bike it's the footpath (i'm going about 120 at this stage), and i literally fly for five meters before landing in a bycylce lane.

oh fuck you all. I feel like riding now. I miss my bike. ARSEHOLES
 
^So, in that big post, you've managed to tell me that I should never ride bikes in my life if I wish to have a life. :)

I wanted somebody to tell me that it's not scary to go 80mph on a freeway.

I just got a bike. Its a '02 Cbr 600 F4I. When you go on the freeway, Cant really tell you're going fast. 80 mph feels like 30 mph.
 
hayabusa's are ridiculously quick. 1300 race bike, it's just power (though i can't imagine anyone needing so much power)
i'll try and find my (or my mates) movies, some of them do stunts and shit at shows which are awesome. They're the one's that taught me sooooo much.
 
and SOFTSTIK, i don't know how to explain it. It's just not. When you go fast in a normal car you seem to be lifting or the car seems to be getting lighter losting grip. but when you do it in a sports car it doesn't seem like that, it seems like the car is gripping better. Same goes with bikes, if your riding a sports bike it doesn't seem like your going as fast as you imagined. Plus the only time you actually feel the speed is when your accelrateing, when your going a constant speed it's like every other trip.
And cars around are just fun. meaning more zigzagging :D

Although i did notice he took it up to about 260/270.
