Are the Miguel Tejada trade rumors about to heat up? According to the Washington Post, there are apparently some in the Orioles organization who are ready to deal their star shortstop before the trade deadline. One unidentified high-ranking team source told the Post that Baltimore has already gotten several inquiries about Tejada, though the teams were not identified. What would the Orioles ask in return? Another unidentified Orioles source told the Post that Tejada would cost a major league pitcher as part of any package. The Orioles are apparently getting frustrated with Tejada's tardiness in arriving for games.
I know the Sox need a SS who can hit, but they need pitching more than anything, so I don't see them giving up a "major league pitcher" for him (unless Matt Clement counts). Don't see the Yanks going for him either (no room in the IF).

Anyone think a Tejada trade will actually go down? Even if the O's want to dump him?

^ lol yeah.. the offense doesn't need a boost right now, and i'm not willing to sacrifice this defense.

not trying to relive the first half of the 2004 season with nomar playing SS

Edit: Also, funny that after I make this post, Gonzalez homers two games in a row

There's no way that a contender is going to pick him up. You don't just move your superstars in the middle of the season, messing with chemistry and rhythm. It's too much of a risk. If it takes a superstar (Manny Ramirez was rumored to be involved in a trade for Tejada), then Tejada will remain an Oriole. I could only see him being moved to a non-playoff team with a good pitcher looking to take a shot at Tejada before the big boys (Sox, Yankees) get a stab at him in the winter. Otherwise, Baltimore will never get equal value (they probably won't anyways, but moreso before the deadline).
