Film & TV Mel Gibson Talks "Apocalypto"

i like how gibson has been going for the authentic look in movies.. something different than these cgi filled movies with english dialect when we know they didnt speak english

i agree, it definitely adds some authenticity. i think he has inured this aspect of his movies and we will see it for some time to come. passion of the christ was really great in terms of authenticity i think. besides the part of jesus probably being black and also having short hair.

this should be a great movie

Sounds good except for this authentic dialogue thing. That worked for Jesus because--he was Jesus. It was different and important to actually hear the way their language sounded. Now it's become a gimmick for Gibson who thinks his movies are going to seen as serious masterpieces because of it. This one sounds like it's a fictional story, so who needs "authentic" dialogue for fiction?
