DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH...THIS IS A COORDINATED NATIONAL PROTEST SPREAD THE WORD TO YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!

On May 15th all citizens are urged to not go to the gas station in protest of the ridiculously high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places. The average car takes about $30 to fill up. If 75 million car-owners decided to NOT go to the pump on the 15th, it would take approximately $2,250,000,000.00 out of the oil companies pockets in just ONE day! Please, do not go to the gas station on May 15th. Let’s fight the oil companies making billion dollar profits off the extra money WE spend on gas. WE can put a dent in the oil industry, even if its just for ONE day.
Stand Together, Protest Oil Company Corruption!

REPOST THIS IN YOUR BULLETIN OR WHATEVER APPROPRIATE FORUMS.

that's moronic.

the gas companies laugh at this bullshit. why? use your head for a second. if you don't fill up on wednesday, you're going to fill up on tuesday or thursday.

you're not accomplishing shit.

you want to send a message? buy a ulev or hybrid car.

fuck my car cost over twice as much as the average car. i'm glad i only fill up once a month right now.

so are people just going to fill up the day before?

thats the only problem i have with these one day protests. most people will just fill up the day before.

As if everybody fills a full tank everyday and that all of it is profit. If this wasn't retarded I might consider it.

Just for that, I'm gonna fill 7 tanks that day.

Yea all these boycotts dont do anything.. It cost me $41 to fill up today.. it sucks, but it's not really gonna affect me unless it hits $4-5 a gallon.. Then i'll get pissed..

If you're going to do something like this, organize a protest where you boycott only one company, BP or Exxon for example. That way, the comany might lower its prices, which might force other companies to do the same. Good luck, though.

i was thinking the same thing. exxon would be good to do that against right now since they just gave that man who retired 40million dollars

precisely. with the competitive pricing then logic would dictate that if one major company lowered prices, the others would too. all it takes is a little thought and not perpetuation of mass stupidity.

Give up. I think if an assload of people were to skip out on buying gas that day, gas companies would just hike up the prices the next day to recoup for the previous day's losses. Whoops... plan B.

People should take a page out of the mexicano's playbook....those people much respect (remind me of the 60's people using what power they have to try and make a diffrent world).

Exactly. I doubt it'd do any good to just not buy gas at any company for one day although I did hear that if that were to happen, there'd be such a surplus that they'd have no choice but to lower prices. Don't know if that's accurate though but it does kinda make sense.

Sorry to steal your thunder but there will be little to no effect by
doing this (hate to burst peoples bubbles)

a) Over compensation on the day before and after the 3rd will make up for anything they didn't make since people are still using petrol to
get to work and to get around. Just because they don't fill up on the
day, it doesn't mean they are not using petrol. THey are simply using
the petrol that they had in their tank from the day before, and will
fill up for what they used the day after.
b) Petrol prices is very loosely based on what the oil prices are at
the moment. It's generally based on what the oil prices were when the refinary recieved the oil.
c) Because of point a) and b) oil companies won't actually realise
that nobody filled up on one day simply because they don't calculate
'earnings' every day and it's a monthly process. Even if they
calculated their earnings on the morning of the 24th and they were 4.6 billion under, they know that the next month they will be 4.6 billion dollars over, thus nothing really changing.

The only way this will ever work is if nobody used petrol at all on
the day of the 3rd. Didn't drive a car at all thus never using any
petrol. This all means that the government and the petrol companies do infact lose money. But keep into consideration that public transport and aeroplanes do use fuel and they will still operate on that day.

But here is something to ponder on as i leave
Who are you paying when you pay for petrol?
Well Caltex shows figures (in victoria/Australia (research your own country/state/city)
50% goes to the oil company
35% is government tax (net excise)
another 9% GST (technically 10%)
and 6% goes to Retail/wholesale/margins and frieght

This will be an interesting read for you all

Enjoy your day my friends
