Man fatally slashes son in front of neighbors, kills wife
Franklyn Duzant, a 40-year-old disabled Army veteran from Lake Mary, Florida, is accused of killing his son and wife on Friday with a "large, sharp-edged instrument", according to a statement released by Seminole County Sheriff office.
Eye witnesses to the crime reported that they saw Duzant running from his house, chasing his 10-year-old son Nico Duzant while brandishing a machete in the front courtyard. The boy was apparently crying for help and bleeding from the neck and wrists when his father knocked him down and kept attacking him while he was on the ground.

Neighbors who saw the attack screamed at the father, "Frankie, Frankie, what are you doing? What's the matter with you! Don't do this!"
Carlos Espino, 41, was returning home from work when he noticed the boy running from his home. Espino ran to help and recognized Nico as a friend of his nephew's. The boy's hands were severed, and his throat was slit and gushing blood. "It was too late," Espino said.
When police officers arrived at the house, they found the man's wife, Evangeline Duzant, 52, dead. No details about her death were released. Franklyn Duzant was then taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he had surgery for unspecified injuries and was listed in stable condition, Eslinger said.
"Our job obviously is to find out how, why and just make some sense of this tragedy. It is just absolutely horrific. I think inside of the house, it will give us a clearer picture of exactly what transpired but outside, I got to tell you, it is pretty brutal," Seminole County Sheriff Don Eslinger said.
