Boy Listed In Serious Condition

HOUSTON -- A 49-year-old man was charged with stabbing a 13-year-old boy after a fight over a basketball game, Local 2 reported Monday.
Investigators said the 13-year-old was playing basketball with several boys in the 5300 block of Arrowpark in northeast Harris County Sunday afternoon when a fight broke out. The group dispersed, but met up a few hours later.
Words were exchanged again and one of the boys went to his apartment and told his father, according to officials.
The father, George Turk, and some other family members went to the basketball court where Turk warned the 13-year-old to not mess with his son, police said.
The teen then slapped the father's hand away, investigators said, so the father pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed the 13-year-old in the side.
The boy is listed in serious condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital, suffering from a collapsed lung and tear to the liver.
Turk was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The boy is expected to survive.
