I had a friend download a song from iTunes for me and send it to me (via yousendit.com), but the problem is that I can't play it on my computer cause its an m4p file (Im assuming its "mp4" though),

And by the application icon of it, there doesn't seem to be any program on my computer that supports that file type - it wont play on my Winamp, won't load up on my CoolEdit, cant convert it with my Streambox Ripper, etc.

Okay so what do I need to download to play it or how do I convert it for a playable file?

I believe that you are correct, makadon. I believe that the only other way to play back an encrypted aac (m4p) is to authorize your computer using ITunes, which can be found at Apple's site. I forget exactly how many authorizations a single song can have, but I think it maybe up to 5. So, as long as your friend hasn't been authorizing it on too many computers, it shouldn't be a problem using either method for playback.

I have Windows ME, which is not supported by iTunes, but according to this

"These songs can then be played outside of the iTunes environment, even on operating systems not supported by iTunes and on hardware not supported by Apple."

Does that mean it'll still work for me though?

But everytime I click on the convert button I get this message: ""Specfic iTunes Music Library files was not found. Please check Preferences before continuing."

theres this software that will decrypt the motherfucker. i forgot the name though, use google.it will decrypt it to an mp3 then it would be just like any other mp3 file.
