Ok I don't know if everyone has heard about the 3 year old girl missing in Portugal (link below if you haven't)

http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1264525,00.html

I really hope she is ok.

But what sort of parent leaves their 3 children all under 2 in an unlocked room and swans off for dinner????

if this was a single mother - the whole world would be blaming her and slagging her off - but because these are Dr's no one bats an eyelid!

So - were the parents wrong to leave 3 children all under 3 in a room alone?

or were thy right to do so?

Discuss.

I didn't read that they left them alone. But, if they did of course it's their fault. I mean, I don't know much about kids but if they're under 3 i'm certain it's illegal to leave them home alone, no?

hmmm...well if they did leave her alone...then its their fault for doing that..shes a child..she doesnt know better..who knows what couldve happend while she was alone.....

I haven't been keeping up to speed with all the facts but in black and white, if they left the kids unsupervised, then yeah it's their fault.

Who the hell leaves their kids unsupervised while on holiday?

Like really C'mon..

I don't know much about it though, havent been following much, just skimmed through it.

Yes they left them alone. And no matter how often you check back it is irresponsible. I went to Portugal recently with my GF and her 6 year old son. He wanted to sleep at about 10pm, we wanted to stay out. However we wouldn't leave him alone in the room. That's madness... and he is 6 and sensible. I wouldn't even let him walk around the hotel on his own and it was an exclusive 5 star hotel...

To leave 3 kids. 1 of 3 years of age and 2 year old twins is absolutley stupid. It takes 2 minutes for 1 to hurt themselves in a seemingly safe hotel room. If you want to go out on holiday leave the kids with a relative. I personally wouldn't even use the hotel babysitter as I don't know them or their history. Am I overprotective? Maybe. But rather that than be in the position of these parents now.

At the end of the day the family are now paying the price for their stupidity. It definately isn't deserved and I feel extremely sorry for them. But I am also angry. That poor girl is probably dead. And all the family will be thinking of now is that girl scared and in pain crying out for her mother who foolishly let her be kidnapped.

It was a needless mistake... and 1 most parents won't make. We live in a shit world. And I never take my eye of any children in my care. Not for a minute. They are painful little shits and are always off doing dumb things. But you miss them when they are gone. Especially if their last moments on this planet have been the stuff of nightmares.
