The new Sidekick Slide launches here in the UK next week. Ideally I'd like the new Sidekick LX, but that is apparently not coming out here, for some unknown reason.
I'm not quite sure though whether I should get this or not.
Pro's:
I can get it for free, and I'm starting to notice the trackball on my Sidekick 3 getting "stuck" every now and then.
It has an upgraded OS, better camera, the music player now supports WMA and other formats as well as MP3.
It's purple.
It's smaller, lighter and thinner than the Sidekick 3 with a higher-res screen, adjustable font size and USB charging.
The speaker is louder.
Con's:
I love my swivel screen, it's fucking cool. This has (surprisingly) a slider screen. Not as cool.
The almightily moronic T-Mobile UK have somehow managed to screw things up with AIM. Even though Sidekick 3's have AIM, the Slide launches in the UK with Yahoo IM ONLY. I'm sure they'll sort it out sooner or later, but currently on my 3, I don't use Yahoo anywhere near as much as I use AIM. If UK Sidekick's had MSN this wouldn't be a problem. With this current development, I'm not positive that we will ever get MSN.
I would have to get a new memory card. I have a 4 GB MiniSD in my SK3.....but the Slide has a MicroSD slot. This is sort of a pro as well since it's possible to get 6GB and 8GB MicroSD whereas 4GB is the limit for Mini.
I'm going to check it out in the store next week, but I'm torn right now. I think I'm going to stick with my SK3 for the moment and hope and pray for T-Mobile and Danger to change their minds and release the LX here too.
