Non-Urban Music If you had to pick your ONE favorite artist, who would it be and why?

Only one? Woah, that's wicked hard. I could never pick just one favorite artists. I already have trouble picking one fav. per genre.

No, I refuse to answer the question. :)

I'm with Duke...there's no way I could pick one artist. I couldn't even pick my favorite out of each genre. :(

from the Guardian's review of Rhythm King (Prince biography)

http://books.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,,2082867,00.html

Oh the book isn't called Rhythm King btw thats just the name of this article, they are reviewing the new Prince biography by Brian Morton named "Thief In The Temple".

I think the book is decidedly under-par compared to other Prince biogs, especially Per Nilsen's masterful "DanceMusicSexRomance".........and I also think Brian's book has a shit name.....I mean, "Thief In The Temple"?

Yes, it's a play on the name of Prince's song "Thieves In The Temple", but it makes it sound like he's calling Prince a thief in some way. For anyone not familiar with Prince's work I'd imagine that's how they'd see it.

Guns N' Roses, from the first time i heard "Welcome to the Jungle" I was hooked, I have seen them live 5 times starting in like 88 or 89 when they opened for Aerosmith, one of those times was post original lineup when buckethead was on guitar and they weren't that greak, but it was still Axl and he was still great! I could sit and listen to all of there cd's from 1 to whatever the last track is, my favorite track would probable be "Civil War" from the "Use Your Illusions" blue cd

Fuck yeah I love me some G'n'R. Axl rules.

Civil War is a great track. For some reason I only have the blue Use Your Illusion and not the orange one, I need to get that. Also I have the Welcome To The Videos DVD but I need to cop the Use Your Illusion live ones......

i'm fiending for some G'n'R news, is Chinese Democracy EVER going to come out?? For fucks sake Axl its been damn near 15 years now.

Morrissey - The Smiths.

I admire him as a poet, his way with words etc. Definately one of, if not, the best artist lyrically.

Guns N Roses were great, when it was Guns N Roses and not just Axl and some no name dudes. the guy can't even put one album out, by the time it gets released, no one will even care anymore, and most GNR fans will probably be dead. and people complain about Dre and the Detox album, he's got nothing on Axl when it comes to putting his shit out. i really wish there was some way to stop him from using the Guns name, because it really isn't the same band at all. plus Axl's an asshole anyway, after all he's the reason the true band broke up in the first place.

as for the topic, i agree with Duke, it's just too hard a question to answer. i'm not even gonna try.
