My Aunty has cancer (of the pancreas)

She had an operation about 2 weeks ago to remove her spleen and the tumor in her pancreas - they also had to remove part of the pancreas. She has had to wait since then for the results.

They told her not to worry as they were almost certain it wasn't cancer. They couldn't have been more wrong.

She is still in a lot of pain from the sugery. She has lost a lot of weight - about 28lbs! She just looks like she is wasting away - she was so curvy before, and now she is tiny and all her face is hallow and she has sunken eyes.

They think she will be ok - she is due to start Chemo in about 3 weeks.

no disrepect, but why would you post something like this on streethop so the whole world can know that your Aunty has cancer?

ahh k, fair enough i just thought that it would be more of a privite family kinda thing..

hope evrything goes well

Because aside from jokes about peoples mothers and sisters we are a close knit family and we care about one another.

I am sorry to hear that Katie, I hope she pulls through. Please keep us updated ok?

Hey rukas,

Well she started her chemo last week, and that is making her really poorly and weak, but hopefully it will work.

She has been really down, as it is the same type of cancer that patrick swayzee has got and they said on the news that most people who have it die within 12 months.

But they caught hers early and it hasn't spread to anywhere else.

I didn't want to tell you that but since you said it yourself....

....yes, this kind of cancer is pretty much deadly, most people don't survive this. I'm sorry, but that's reality.

But they caught hers early and it hasn't spread to anywhere else.
as far as they know. This is a serious..

Anyway. Someone I knew they said would live 6 months with that cancer and lived on for 4 years. So keep ya head up, but this is really serious u know.

Cancer seems to pop up all over the place these days. So many people I know indirectly have either suffered or died in the last few months. It's crazy.

Hope your aunt pulls through, katie.

Are you honestly suggesting I just now "discovered" that cancer happens a lot? Look, I'm not going to turn this thread to kate's aunty into a beeferoni special, but don't be fucking stupid, man. My comment was obviously meant regarding my personal circle of people I know, not worldwide.
