because i have a tattoo?? that's what a friend of mine said....is this true?

Why? do i really have ink in my blood? that sounds like....if it were true, i should be dead or sick...wouldn't that poison me? somebody enlighten me please

Tattoo
Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. This requirement is related to concerns about hepatitis. Learn more about hepatitis and blood donation.

Acceptable if the tattoo was applied by a state-regulated entity using sterile technique. Only a few states currently regulate tattoo facilities, so most donors with tattoos must wait 12 months after tattoo application before donating blood. You should discuss your particular situation with the health historian at the time of donation.

Oh my God, sit down and think about what you wrote. Ink in your blood? Dude?

It seriously sounds like the dumbest shit I heard the past weeks. :D Anyway, like Zimb said, maybe it has something to do with hepatits, but since the test the blood anyway I don't really see no problem there.

its bcuz u might have aids or some other horrible disease from the tattooist not sterilising the needle after doing tommy lee and paris hilton and britney spears and when ppl get a blood transfer theyre trying to survive on some clean shit, not some dirty skanky blood

or something

If he has AIDS, he would know. I think you mean, HIV.

They test the blood, yet gay people also can't give blood.

I gave blood for the first time this new year in the UK, you have to fill out a survey saying if you've ever come into contact with people who are at high risk, i.e. hookers and junkies, and seeing as I've lived in China, Africa and the Middle East in the last five years and have a job where I have to be tested for HIV and hepatitis to get work Visa in such countries there was a couple of times where I felt they would reject me but all they did was tick the appropriate boxes and they took the sample anyways seeing as they will test the blood before they use it. Me having tested negative for all blood diseases just two weeks prior made them worried as I guess they thought I could have picked up something getting tested.

And I've had tattoos done in the US, Thailand and China and they didn't seem to care about that so I'd be suprised if you "can't give blood for 12 months" after getting a tatt.
