How long does a good sun tan last for?

Okay I've just got back from holiday's and I'm wondering. As I live in Ireland, we don't get too much sun here ( ) so I've never really had a good tan before. So out of interest is there any average length of time?

Mine's lasted for nearly a year now.
Guess it depends on how tanned you get tho.

My grandad lives in America for 6 months a year so he's like all year round tanned, the bastard

I got burned shoulders from 6 hours outside yesterday. It's even hotter today. But I don't think I'll be taking my shirt of, unless I put total sun block on.

i got burnt on friday, so red. Sat outside all day yesturday & today im having to sit in the shade due to sun burn / sun stroke. Ive gone from pale white, to a nice redish / brown already. People think ive been away on holiday!

I hope this weather lasts, we havent had a nice summer in England for years.

You must have had a great summer 2 year's ago im in scotland and 2 year's ago was the hottest summer in 25 year's.

we usually have a really warm may, then cloudy june and loads of thunder storms. I cant remember the summer two years ago, but i do actually remember something about it being the hottest. Wasnt there that heat wave that killed thousands? I think you're right

Mine probably only lasts a few months, by the time winters through I'm nice and pale, lol... seems like as soon as the pants and jumpers go on, the fading starts. We can usually get a good tan here during the warmer months, but this summer I found a conscience and got paranoid about cancer and wrinkles, argh - I'm getting old!

well i always tan with those tanning beds,ive been tanned for a few years now.when it start fading then its time for a new tan.

the time it takes for you to become less tanned depends on the pigments in your skin.somepeople the tan fades quickly,others,it stays for a long time

I've had a good summer for a few years. You know London always gets the best weather. you lot live too far up north.


I was on a stag do in Blackpool last year and it rained all weekend, it was 80 in London. gutted.

I love it. It's just about hot enough. I need to persuade my parents to put a pool in their garden.

Madness- its horrible !! ive got a pond so i could use that , although the only good thing is my sister has gone to see green day so i hope she frys !!!
