how do i transfer a video on a camcorder to a computer??

You either need a usb cable or firewire.

thanks for all your responses and the camera is a Sony Handycam Vision 560x optical 20x video hi8 ccd-trv318 ntsc

U need a PCI card for ur PC that has a S Video (or composite) input most TV tuner cards have these, although there are specialist cards availible. shouldnt cost much...get on ebay
