Hi

I aint never been to Thailand ever and am thinking about going there next month i know its not the best season. Since am in West Malaysia just now its as good as any time.

But has anyone here been to Thailand and got any recommendations of cities apart from Bangkok?

I really want to see the Temples, the beaches and do some scuba diving. I like to see some culture really but yet cause am going Solo it would be nice to go to a hostel of International Tourist like my self that way i can start up some conversation as my thai aint that very good. :)

Am not really bothered seeing the infamous sex clubs you hear about cos it would piss me off to see some old fat PEDO pervert taking advantage of the young teenage girl/male. I cant hold back my temper big mouth and i know i would say some shit that would get my ass kicked!!

so call me boring but got any nice recommendations for cities or hostels you been to???

thanks for reading.

dunno if dat helps.

Get out of Bangkok as soon as you can, it's a filthy overpacked place which I really didn't enjoy very much. It's also more expensive than the rest of Thailand but if you want fake gear then get it here, clothes, Rolexes, DVDs that sort of thing. Don't let taxi drivers take to where THEY want to go either, they all get paid for bringing tourists to jewellers, tailors etc. Also clubbing in Bangkok sucks, ridiculous club policies and 1am closing times made our first few days really boring, some places offer a "secret lock in" but it's expensive.

If you want to really get into Thailand and do the Safari and culture thing you should think about going to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai, I haven't been to either myself but next time I go back that's where I'll visit.

I went to Phuket which is a bit sleepy but a great place to hire a chopper and cruise around the island for like 2 quid a day. If you want a tattoo get it done at Tikki's in Patong, everyone calls this guy "The Master" and he specialises in Bamboo tattooing. That's basically all I found in Phuket, an Island of born again bikers but not like that's a bad thing, I had a riot.

For Scuba Diving goto Koh Samui, I did my Padi with "Samui International Diving School" and they were awesome, pretty cheap too. I got one on one tutorage with an expat. You'll find them on the main strip on Chaweng Beach. Of the month I spent in Thailand I enjoyed Koh Samui the most, pretty much anything I wanted to do I could do there, but it's more expat travellers around these parts so if you want to get into history and culture then go to North of Thailand.

All the sex shows and sleazy stuff you're thinking of is mainly in Bangkok and Pattaya, everywhere else just has bargirls and probably a few Katoi's (I'll let you figure out what that is when you get there!!).

Enjoy yourself, it's hard not to have a good time there. :)
