Hello, if anyone has organised an event for charity, or knows how to go about it, please share with me your experiences, what the charity was for, what event you did etc. Did you get a lot of co-operation from local/national companys? Did you get any help at all? etc
Did you have to pay a bit of your own money out to pay for tickets, rooms etc?

Thanks

Well I have quit a bit of experience in setting up volunteer events and some experience in charity events. The largest thing I have helped organized would be last years NYC Aid's Walk. I would say the most important thing you need to do is get the word out. Media is your best friend. You are going to have to make quit a bit of cold calls to differnt organzations and companies to find sponsors. If you do the work then you shouldn't have to invest much of your own money, most companies will be willing to donate their good's as long as they are getting a lot of press which comes back to the media being the most important thing.

Excellent. It sounds like you know your stuff. Its my first event so I cant expect the biggest event. But hopefully it will grow so future events can become easier. But your right, finding the venues and getting celebs and sponser is proving tough, but not impossable. Infact its kind of a good thing that its going to be hard work because it makes the finished product so much better knowing that you put the hard work in to achieve your goal.

Thanks for replying :thumb: :)
