For me it HAS to be the 1960s. No doubt.

The Beatles, the Stones, The Kinks, The Who, Dick Dale, The Beach Boys, The Animals, Dylan, Hendrix, Cream, The Searchers, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Van Morrison...crazy, crazy times.

Well I grew up in the 90s too, but I'd definitely have preferred to grow up in the 60s. Obviously nostalgia makes the 60s look a lot better than they probably were at the time, but still...all that talent starting out careers, making it big, putting out classic records...

What is it about the 90s that makes them your favourite years in music?

well i like the 90's because most of the rap music. i mean my environment was all about hip hop, my friends listened to it. my dad is a dj and my mom plays it all the time. to tell ya the truth i never really started listenin to rock or any thing else besides rap till like a year ago.

I agree with this cat. The 60s inspired a lot of artist from tha 90s. And since tha music from tha 60s were great, the 90's polished it, makin tha 90s tha best music era. Look at it. 2pac, Warren G, Nas, theres too many to name, but ya'll get me. I just don't know what tha fuck iz wrong with mainstream/commercial music THEZE days. Ain't no relativety nowadays. Its sad. I miss tha 90s. (Excuse me while I take a moment to shed tears of sorrow.)

You look back on the 90s and remember Tupac, Nirvana, Radiohead, NWA, RATM and all the good stuff. You forget about the garbage like Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Right Said Fred, Cher, Ricky Martin, Hanson, the Spice Girls, the Backstreet Boys, Britney...

People act as if the charts were full of classics by Tupac, Nirvana, Radiohead...they weren't. Shit music always has and always will dominate the mainstream charts.

1. the quality of music should never be determined by its position on the charts.

2. I personally never said that there was NO bad music in the 60's or the 90's

3. compared to the quality of the music in the 90's compared to the bands you named above I really cant think of many that could compare, especially in hiphop.

60's was AWESOME, 90's was even better.
Music was pretty much born in the 60's, but it was revolutionaised and was peaking in the 90's. Rock/alternative punk was peaking till about 96. Rap/R&B/Hiphop peaked till about 98/99. Dance/euro/trance was peaking in 99, latin music was peaking during 95/96. These days the music industry is impassive and dead to me, only a few bands/rappers/music artists stand out (in my opinion). The rest is same old bullshit.

The 70's. Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, just to name a few. I grew up on that shit and it's still my preference today.
