I'm a big fan of import cars, but I really hope this movie doesn't end up being as stupid as the first two. Hopefully it won't have the same mistakes as them:
The Fast and the Furious
* The plot didn't make sense. Three riced out Civics with green underbody lights not getting caught by the police? Riiiiiight.
* In the first street racing scene, every crew was defined by race. This is street racing, not prison.
* Most street races of this sort with cars of that caliber shouldn't last longer than 13 seconds; the movie provided us with a two-minute quarter-mile race.
* LOTS of continuity problems. (Remember when the floor panel flew out of the passenger side of Paul Walker's Eclipse, yet he picks Vin Diesel up and he sits in there, just fine? In a car that just blew its motor?)
* LOTS of factual errors. (After Johnny Tran shoots up the Eclipse, Vin Diesel yells "NOS!" and the car explodes. Nitrous oxide could not be the cause of an explosion, it is a non-flammable gas.)
* LOTS of corny lines.
* Etc., etc.
2 Fast 2 Furious
* Completely unreal street races. The first one involved the cars going over the bridge, soaring through the air. No person in their right mind would ever do that, much less in a $80,000 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R, a $40,000 Toyota Supra Turbo, or even $30,000 Honda S2000. And those prices don't count modifications.
* Overuse of rappers. Ludacris was a terrible choice, but Jin was acceptable since he had a relatively minor role.
* Overly hip-hop musical score. A hip-hop song in the movie here and there is fine, but it's all over the movie.
* John Singleton's writers. It was corny to hear Paul Walker refer to Tyrese as "cuh."
* Obvious product placement. The use of an Evo VII made sense since at the time it was a high-performance import not legally for sale in the U.S., but using an Ecplise Spyder as the partner's car was obvious promotion for Mitsubishi. The DVD's special features make this even more obvious.
* Less stuntwork and less exciting driving.
* Poor special effects.
* Etc., etc.
