BLASTS ON TUBES AND BUS

An explosion has "ripped a bus apart" just minutes after a number of blasts on London's Underground.

Scotland Yard has confirmed there has been an explosion on a bus in Tavistock Place. Union sources claim there have been reports of blasts on three different buses.

Witness Belinda Seabrook said she saw an explosion rip though a bus as it approached Russell Square.

"I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang. I turned round and half the double decker bus was in the air," she said.

Another witness, Angie, told Sky news: "There were a whole lot of people around the bus. Next thing I was on the floor and there were a lot of people on me.

"I thought I was going to be crushed. The bus was ripped out at the back. It must have been a bomb."

Scotland Yard could not confirm reports of an explosion on a bus in Russell Square. A spokeswoman said police were at the scene and attempting to determine what had happened.

The entire Tube network has been shut down following the blasts at Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square.

It is understood several people have been wounded in the underground blasts, with one unconfirmed eyewitness telling Sky News he saw "bodies on the line".

British Transport Police confirmed there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from King's Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around King's Cross covered in soot.

Clare Benson, 33, a city banker from Kensington, was on a tube at Edware Road where the second incident took place.

"I was in the last carriage at the back of the train nearest the tunnel when I heard a huge bang - you could feel it," she said.

"The lights went off for a couple of minutes and people were scared and wondering what to do.

"The drivers got out and were looking into the tunnel, then they announced that we should evacuate. My ears are still ringing and I was shaking."

^^ Glad they are ok :)

SURVIVORS DESCRIBE TUBE EXPLOSIONS

A witness told Sky News there was an explosion at the back of a Tube carriage and he had seen bodies.

Other passengers on the Metropolitan Line explosion are reported to have attempted to smash the windows of their Tube carriages with umbrellas in an attempt to escape.

Police are thought to have been sent into tunnels to evacuate people along the tracks.

Bradley Anderson told Sky News that he was involved in the Edgware Road incident on a Circle line train.

He said: "We just left Paddington station. About 15 seconds later there was some kind of explosion and we collided with another train.

"We were heading into the station when there was some kind of explosion or something.

"Everything went black and we collided into some kind of oncoming train.

"There was debris all over the trains. They evacuated us."

Clare Benson, 33, a city banker from Kensington, was on a tube at Edware Road when she heard a massive explosion in the tunnel behind her. It was about 8.40am.

"I was in the last carriage at the back of the train nearest the tunnel when I heard a huge bang - you could feel it.

"The lights went off for a couple of minutes and people were scared and wondering what to do.

"The drivers got out and were looking into the tunnel, then they announced that we should evacuate.

"My ears are still ringing and I was shaking."

One witess told Sky there was an explosion at the back of a tube carriage.

"There was a big hole in the carriage. There were people lying everywhere covered in blood," he said.

"People were screaming. We could not get out.

"The explosion was at the back of the carriage."

He said people managed to walk through the carriages to get out.

He said there was "bodies lying everywhere".

No guesses as to who's behind this. It seems there's definitely been serious casualties.

dunno, but without sounding too stupid. We just won the olympic bid yesturday, maybe its soemthing todo with that, people trying to prove the city isnt safe or something. It seems too major for an accident, and dare i say it, at the moment pretty minor for a terrorist attack.

BUS 'RIPPED IN TWO' BY BLAST

One eyewitness described "half a bus flying through the air" as an explosion ripped apart a London bus.

The incident happened in Russell Square.

Belinda Seabrook said: "I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang, I turned round and half the double decker bus was in the air.

Mrs Seabrook said the bus was travelling from Euston to Russell Square and had been "packed" with people turned away from Tube stops.

"It was a massive explosion and there were papers and half a bus flying through the air, I think it was the number 205," she said.

"There must be a lot of people dead as all the buses were packed, they had been turning people away from the tube stops.

"We were about 20 metres away, that was all."

Paul Tripea, owner of the Russell Square Cafe, said people had rushed inside following the explosion.

"One of the security guards from a nearby hotel rushed in and said he saw the bus explode around Tavistock Square," said Mr Tripea.

"We have also heard that there is a suspect package in Russell Square."

Suzanne Flowerday, 16, who is doing work experience in Soho, said: "I just heard a bang and the roof and back of the bus came off.

"There was debris everywhere and people running around. There were police and fire brigade everywhere - everyone was distraught, no-one knows what is going on.

"It can't be a power surge if buses are blowing up as well.

"There was a woman who had cracked ribs and another lady, half of her face was hanging off.

"I could've been blown up with a lot of others.

"There are people standing aimlessly in the street."

Another eyewitness called Angie said: "There was a whole crowd of people around the bus and the next thing I knew I'm on the floor.

"Someone fell on me - I just ran into the nearest building.

"The bus was ripped off at the back - it couldn't have been anything else but terrorism."

An eyewitness in the Tavistock Place area told Sky News: "I was walking along.

"There was a whole crowd of people around the bus. The next thing I knew I was on the floor. There was shedloads of glass raining down.

"Someone fell on me and someone fell on him. For a moment I thought I was going to be trampled.

"I picked myself up and everyone was running. There was glass everywhere. We ran into a building and a security guard was saying `get in, get in'. Then the security guard said `get out' which was a bit scary.

Asked about the possibility of a terrorist attack, she said: "I saw the bus ripped out at the back ... it couldn't have been anything else."

Harris, were you not wanting other people to post in your thread so as the news could stay 1st page or because Katie started a thread?

Just that I was in your thread & was caught in two minds as to whether to post or not...obviously I didn't know Katie had started a thread too.

It's quite simple.

The British police force is mainly focused on Gleneagles right now.

And with the remaining police being focused on Trafalgar Square yesterday, it would've been quite easy to arrange this shit.
