I just spent a great deal of money to have front brake pads replaced, but they still squeek...and they can't be the one's atthe back cause they sound their coming from the front, but the brakes of course work perfectly when I stop or slow down though. They don't squeek everytime I hit the brake, but they do it lot though. I called the place that put the brake pads on and they say that its takes a time to "break them in", like after a couple of hundred miles or something - I dont even drive a hundred miles everything. Ive asked different people and they everything from "sometimes squeaking is normal" to "it depends what kind of car you drive." Well, I drive a 95' Escort.

What do you think? Is it normal or should I get them to look it again?

if the squeeking isnt effecting your braking, id say leave it for a couple weeks or a month. then if they are still squeeking, take them back as they might be loose or something might be caught in between the pad and the rotor.

Brand new brakes squeek. I got mine replaced and my shit was squeaky as hell. After about 6 weeks the shit stpoped.

Because the mechanic didn't apply copper grease to the back of the pad. That's why they are squeaking. It's not dangerous, but is annoying.

Do your pads yourself, I always do.

exactly what i was about to say pittsey,

take the pads off and put some copper grease all down the back of them. should stop the squeaking
