Do you guys think that deadlines tend to be strictly enforced in capitalist societies? Whether it be deadlines in school, at work, or at home...If so(and most people will say yes), why?

One idea, and that's Marx's to be exact, was that humanity will eventually evolve beyond the need for capitalist work deadlines. On the other hand, Max Weber's belief was that deadline pressure is likely only to intensify as modernity spreads globally. Which of the two do you agree with, or do you have a different opinion?

By the way, the question is school-related. Irrelevant, though.

Under Marx's theory, there'd be no need for deadlines because everybody would know when and what they had to produce for society.

That obviously doesn't work in a capitalistic society, and I figure Weber's right.

^Do you have a source for the info? The Marx-Engels Reader doesn't really point it out. I'm not doubting you, I need to read up on this.
