He is going to make one HUGE film about the battle, and divide it into two separate movies -- one from the perspective of the Japanese, the other from the American perspective.
He will then release both films simultaneously on the same day.
I think this is a great idea, and probably thought of in light of the success of The Passion of Christ language experiment. Knowing it will come from the talents of Clint Eastwood, it should be a certified success.
