Why would a car 'turn off?' when you are driving. :suspicious:

It hasn't gotten the spark plugs changed yet for almost 2 years.

Battery hasn't been replaced since we bought the car 2.5 years ago.


Anyway, during the times that it turned off, it was day, that's why I don't think it is the Alternator...

I had half a tank or more @ the time.

When it happened, my steering wheel locked.

What kind of car do you drive?

Check the fluid levels of your battery. Usually you don't have to check it regularly, but if the levels are low, you'll need to throw in some distilled water in there. That could play a role.

Maybe the terminals of your battery are corroded, or the contact isn't good.

When your car shuts off, do all the electronics inside go off too (clock, radio, etc.)? Or just the engine power?

Honda Accord LX 99. Its my girls car.

The battery is clean.

When it comes off, the cd player came off. I switched it to Radio mode and it played. So, I just felt weird and decided to turn it off too.

What was weird was that it stuttered, like it allowed me to put gas even after it locked. I used all my str. to pull it aside b/c of traffic behind me.

The door lights turned red and everything lit up, (Battery light...Parking brake...etc..), BUT the check engine and maintenance required lights did NOT turn on.

I will check the water levels tomorrow. The easily viewed fluids where okay.
