Technology Cable Speed Problems need some help

I should be downloading at 1 MBPS and for about two weeks I have been. All of a sudden over the last two days its down to fuckin 10 KB per second. I called the cable company and they just jerked me around and said they'd send someone out. It's not my computer, it's new and I have scanned with Nortan AntiVirus 2005 and Nortan Spyware and Adware so any ideas? Thanks ahead of time

cable runs on a network of other users in your area hence if everyone around you is using their cable internet then its going to slow your speed down. Or perhaps because of your heavy amounts of bandwith the calbe comapany has decided to cap your bandwith?

^Like he said about cable everyone shares that particular of line so if everyone is on it the less bandwith you get whileas as DSL you are guarantee a certain about of speed.

Make sure you cable provider does not have a cap in how many gigabytes you can download. I know Comcast has a limit and they will if you don't stop delete your account.

Go around to ur neighbours and put a baseball bat to their computers.That should speed things up.
