This has been an issue for a long time. Some people may not want to admit it, or may outright deny it, but forming relationships (no matter how insignificant) with other members of the board has become more of a challenge over time. The community aspect that once attracted people to the board is seemingly fading.

What suggestions do you have to improve this? As we all know, because we've all been made aware of it before, this is "not a democracy." But fuck it. Say what you have to say anyway, even if nothing changes.

Please keep this as serious discussion.

there is community here. almost everyone speaks to other members off the board a minimum of once in a while, and that alone demonstrates that the board has facillitated friendships outside of its own threads.
Most of them were formed awhile back, and are maintained through AIM and MSN, not Our Block or the other forums.

Or that's at least how it seems to me..

Well of course, if I want to speak to a specific member i'm not going to do it through the board, i'm going to use IM.

And some friendships are old. Some are relatively new. I don't really see a big difference between TB community anno 2006 and any of the previous years.

Well first we'd have to treat eachother like equals, which just isn't going to happen.

This is a community already like D said, however in terms of promoting new growth and having new members post without fear of being dissed, it would take certain individuals getting off their high horses or being banned. One of the two is coming.

Well the people I'm thinking of I'm sure wouldn't get banned.. I'm talking about the people with OG under their name that think that makes them invincible. There are some people considered higher then others and that wont change.

Well Im talking about the people that go into every thread with a negative comment and put people down at any opportunity as if to over compensate for their short comings in regular social circles.

hey, but alotta people like to instigate stuff....making each other equal will never happen...never..not on the board, not in the world...and it shouldnt happen... if you suck, you suck...stay at the bottom and dwell off of scum.... even if it does happen to be me...if everyone's equal on this board, then really, alotta the fun in the board is gone.... some people here have experienced more, and should be viewed as people to look up to, or atleast learn from.... some people, on the other hand, have only one sentence posts, and thousands of them.... i doubt those sentences contribute to anything productive, and becoem just wastes of spaces....but that's just my opinion...

really, the only problem i have had with this board was beefs...from autisticgurl to ill-matic, to duke....most have been resolved... but it happens often... gettin off the high horses seems like a good idea...

Well let's just say I've been cutting down on such acts.

So true.

Btw about the community i dunno if its changed, though i talk to no-one from the board now. Maybe Sigh on the odd occasion. I used to talk to alot of people from here. All left though.

I haven't really noticed a change. Personally, I never talked to people off the board until maybe less than a year ago, if even that. I've actually noticed people that made great relationships and I didn't see that in the past. I also noticed there's less beef. So, I think the community is functioning well.

More to my point.

With your track record, you dont have a leg to stand on, nor shit to say. You want to talk about favoritism? Let's welcome everybody to the bigmack/kami/diaz show, StreetHop's favorite set of triplets.

no offence or anything, but i don't see how me telling you to stop bullying LiLShortie can be viewed as "beef" between you and i....

I still have no comment in regards to the topic.

I agree with this, it starts as two people agreeing on the same issues and topics all the time, then you notice that the person is on the same level as you. It progresses to PMs, moves on from there to AIM and MSN, to emails, and in some cases phone conversations. I have a few people on here who I would consider real friends, and I talk to them about as frequently as I would my friends who I met "in real life" So, yeah, I think that along makes it a community. No matter who you talk to off the board, you met them here, and then we all meet up here like it's home, lol. And y'all can laugh at me all you want because 90% of you are here just as much as me.;)

now this is true

people here in a position of power or having a certain e-reputation are often the first ones making easy judgments about those they want to and that is certainly not helping the sense of community in the first place

when i think about someone who is building the community on this board, sigh is the boss, he's cool with anyone, not judging someone for some retarded ignorant reason like being "canadian", for example.........................

problem is favoritism, period
