bread and circus

Lately shit has been getting ridiculous just everywhere I look, everywhere I go. It just reminded me of the Romans idea of bread and circus. give them just enough bread (alcohol) to burn the fire in their hearts of any kind of dissent and give them circus (hollywood, sport, rap) to keep them distracted from real issues. I just searched for this article and thought i'd post it.

I finally read the entire article, damn good piece :thumb:

The funny thing is how true it is and how much it applies to our current situations, especially here in the US.

I bet Bush was reading about this right before he got "elected" into office.
