A THONG OF THE PAST?

Cracks are appearing in the UK thong market with sales down nearly 20% in the past year.

Ever since the buttock-baring item of women's underwear was worn by a catwalk model in 1997, G-strings have been all the rage.


Today sales of thongs remain firm among women aged 25 and under.

But demand from older women has started to sag, new figures show.

Between May 2004 and May this year G-string/thong sales dropped 17% nationally, according market researchers TNS Fashion Trak.

Their figures show that more discreet, 'shorts-style' knickers are becoming more popular.

But despite its recent dip in form, the thong, which remains a must-have 'chav' fashion accessory, is far from a thing of the past.

They still account for £38m of the £165m women's underwear industry.

Rachel Argyle, from TNS, said: "The bottom has not completely dropped out of the thong market, not yet.

So girls/boys what do you prefer thong/big knickers or frence knicker/shorts?

I prefer thongs wear them all the time, french knickers are nice too

"There is still a future for the thong. There is just a wider range of more comfortable alternatives out there."

yeah it does, my first one was an armani one, i thought i was great!! took ages to get used to wearing them, but won't wear anything else now! i mean those shorts are just daft imagine sleeping with a new man for the 1st time and you strip off and you are wearing them! not right!

actually not into g-strings only wear em unless in a kinky mood or my pants require invisibility to the underwear line.

i wear boxers to sleep in and brazillian shorts everyother time mostly like 30 pairs and all df colors. not saying they flatter my figure but they do look pretty good on me though.

anyways thongs are in alright but only to the 11-14 yr old hookers here and the french pepper ones who are a little late in find a sexy yet conservative way to look good.(they wear them so high so when they bend down you see the whole thing even the fucking brandname)ugh.

But they are half way up her stomach, which is "ok" if you wander around in your underwear but for those us who prefer to wear clothes in public, you dont want massive lacy crap popping out the top of your jeans! Discretion is the key, which is why the g-string gets my vote because I wear underwear for me not for a man. And if what katie says is true, its no wonder these models have their backs turned, I guess camels toes arent the fashion. :thumb:

Well that ass has been airbrushed with over 200 shades of gold and brown and the angle makes it look like a tumor, but it's still quite the rumpity rump rump.
