you two are retarded for each other. stay out of the thread and fuck off in haunteds thread. i was actually trying to let people read experiences from people who were there first hand through everything and i think they are still there.

i don't understand how 10k people can die from this?! i mean is it because they weren't prepared? or was the hurricane strong?

I lived through one of the most powerful storms in like a century when i was like 2 or 4 (hurricane Gilbert) in Cancun, and i don't remember that many people dying, the city was destroyed but not that many people died.

the storm could have hit in the middle of the night i am not sure. they either drown in their sleep or awaken by 5 feet of water in the house and trapped inside.

well, nobody sleeps when a hurricane comes through. I know, I've been there. So it has to be something else.

The most obvious would be from the lack of water or food, but come'on 10,000 from just that? i don't think so. I mean the "looting" is mostly for food and water.

The reason why there are/will be 10k dead is because they did not want to leave. They had more than enough time to leave but choose not to to protect their property. And for the people that don't have transportation well there is something called a bus, train, bicycle, etc. The people were not prepared and are paying for it.

^^Stop being so ignorant, how can they take a bus or a train when they shut down operations the day before the Hurricane came. Better yet, how can they afford to take a bus or train. Yeah they could of walked, walked somewhere to do what they are doing now. Living in the street looking for food. I'm sure they thought they would of done better at their homes. It's not "the people", it is WE that weren't prepared for this, everyone is going to pay.
People are still dying after the hurricane, I'm almost positive there will be more deaths from starvation and sickness and so forth, rather than the actual hurricane.

are we watching the same news??? are we seeing the same pics?

The average Joe does not really know the impact untill it's hjit. People on the street are not educated enough to know exactly how bad the hurrican will be and they didn't know that the city flood defences would cave in like that. Y'ou don't know how sweet the mango is, untill you taste it yourself'. Besides , there's been some reports that the barrier that caved in needed work doing to it and the city never paid for it.
Other than that, people naturally don't like to leave their homes, many hurricanes have hit and people survive so why would this have been different to the average Joe. Oh yes, we now know that waves hit as well and flood barriers broke.
THe state should have organised buses to actually take these people somewhere. To evacuate 250,000 people is the duty of the state. These residents didn't even have money for food, where would they have gotten accomodation.

Seriously, i'm more and more convinced that if this had hit Texas then none of these problems and breakdown in the operation of saving people would have happened.

^that might be true but i'm willing the bet that the gov of texas is a little better at the job of being gov. than the gov. of L.A.

did anyone read the blog at all?

you're talking about one of the poorest pockets in the south. believe it or not, a large portion of the people who stayed had no other choice but to.

and critikaldesignz, your post about wanting to see dead people makes you look like the child you are. because you're not directly impacted by katrina doesn't discount how devastating it was. do you want to see pictures of dead people who were killed by the debris, or would you rather see the people who died from lack of healthcare or food while waiting for assistance? either way you're a pathetic child.

ALot of the looting of hospitals and pharmacys has been a the hands of drug addicts. I'm willing to bet there's loads of them there!
Some people don't truly understand how addictive heroin is. An addict would rather amputate one of his limbs and have a hit than to have no hit no amputation. This actually happened to someone in real life. The addcits would be going crazy at this time, killing people cos they're in a crazed state.
