so i was thinking the other day, what are the best songs from primarily rap oriented soundtracks? there are a lot of good choices out there, but i narrowed it down to my top 5, in this order:

1. Str8 Up Menace - MC Eiht (Menace II Society)
2. Pain - 2Pac (Above The Rim)
3. How High - Method Man & Redman (The Show)
4. Motherless Child - Ghostface Killah & Raekwon (Sunset Park)
5. Never Had A Friend Like Me* - 2Pac (Gridlock'd)

*i didn't want to put another Pac song on the list but this one is too damn good to not be on this list.

omg i so forgot about gangsta's paradise. lose yourself got the merit of not only being liked by rap fans, but also appreciated by non-rap fans also. i know a lot of people who hated all rap songs but they just couldn't dislike lose yourself.

rap game from 8 mile was pretty good, so was love me. Go to Sleep from the cradle 2 the grave soundtrack was good too

i think boyz n tha hood soundtrack was easily the best it had heaps of up an comers from the time such as ice cube boyz n tha hood heaps of cool tracks these are the top 2 for me off that soundtrack
1-boyz n da hood - dem boys
2-ice cube - growing up in south central

Uptown Anthem-Naughty by Nature.

I agree the 8 Mile is an excellent soundtrack.R.A.K.I.M is a good song as well.

Lose Yourself almost made my top 5 list, but Pac just edged him out. if i had made a top 10 most of the other songs mentioned here would have made the cut. Know The Ledge was another close one, one of my favorite Rakim songs.
